In 1880 The Granville
Times newspaper began publication in Granville. It ran for 60 years with
few interruptions, recording in minute detail the Village and Township news.
The major events of the Granville Centennial occurred during the week of Sept.
4, 1905 and are described on the first and last pages of the Granville

events on the remaining days through Sunday. Crowning event:
dedication of the Pioneer Monument on Sugarloaf Hill that Thursday.
The Monument consists of a bronze tablet attached to a five ton boulder
sitting on a granite block brought all the way from Quincy, MA., and can
still be seen today. |
